Karens Kaptured Moments from Indiana specializes in Rural Photography among events, portraits, seniors and weddings. They recently moved from the legacy SmugMug to the new SmugMug and introduce a blog as well. Kayla writes to us :
1. Why to you like photography ?
We enjoy photography because it allows us to Kapture a moment in time for others to hold onto and cherish.
2. What is your favorite type of photography ?
Favorite time of photography is hard. It differs slightly between the two of us. Karen really enjoys the livestock shots, and the photographs that no one knows are coming. Kayla is the same, but also finds herself passionate with “people pictures” as well. I’m not certain I could say either of us have “one favorite”.
3. Share a funny story about your photography…
A funny story about our photography… After a long thought of all our shoots from the first one, ever, I have finally found one of the cutest, and funniest stories to date. Fall 2012, we were taking family pictures for Nick, Katie, and Carter Pruet. Now, if you don’t know Carter, he was 6 years old, blonde hair, adorable, and all boy…His laughter is contagious too. This family is very involved in the livestock industry, but for this particular instance, we were in the middle of a pasture with cattle. Carter was standing on the gate, while Nick and Katie were leaning on it. After taking a few pictures, we had the two kiss. Carter staring at them very closely exclaims, “EW! GROSS!” The entire photoshoot was filled with laughter and Carter just being goofy. Once he started laughing, we all started laughing.
4. Share a photography trick or tip…
I think our greatest tip to future photographers, is to not only be extremely passionate about what you are doing, but always always always take pictures you typically wouldn’t think would turn out. It is nothing for us to go on a 3 hour photoshoot together and have 800+ images each. We are always snapping and seeing things the other doesn’t. We would rather have TOO many images than not enough.
5. Why do you love SmugMug and/or jR Customization ?
The greatest thing about SmugMug is that you don’t have to deal with any of the money, records, or printing… they do it all for you. However, our greatest experience to date has been working with jR Customization. They have been unbelievable patient with us as we have had such a hectic summer, has been persistent, consistent, and always has our best interest in mind. They were eager to give suggestions (which is something I really liked) and was patient and able to figure out what I was trying to say, even when I couldn’t put the words together.
6. What is your major goal or photography project for 2014?
I think it is safe to say that our major goal for 2014 is to have more traffic on our website and continue to expand with new business. We really enjoy working with our past clientele, but meeting new clients and forming a relationship is something that is tangible and something that we cherish.
